Mancat Monday.

Flynn's Advice:
When you are on field patrol, it is a good idea to floof your tail so it keeps the introoders away.

Mum was asked some questions about their holiday so she is going to answer them the best she can.
Au and Target asked about Iceland:
Q) What are the people like? Do they like tourists or loathe them?
A) We found them very welcoming. All the people we spoke to appeared to be embarrassed by their banking crisis and were very apologetic about it.

Kari asked:
Q) How thick were the tectonic plates were where our dad was standing, and could he feel any geothermal activity coming from the fissure?
A) I don't know how thick they were at that particular spot, but they reach a maximum depth of 25,453 feet. I asked Ivor if he felt any activity beneath his feet and he said he could feel nothing at all, but if he did he would have broken the landspeed record.

Hannah and Lucy asked:
Q) Is the volcano still erupting, or dormant now.
A) When we were there, seismic activity was slowing right down but had not been officially declared dormant. It most likely is dormant now.

Brian asked:
Q) Who is the boy peeing in the water in Bergen?
A) The sculpture is actually called "The Crying Boy". It is not really surprising he is crying as he has four jets of water permanently aimed at him!

Easy Like Sunday

I am enjoying a nice roll in the sun. Hope you all have as relaxing a Sunday as me.

Sunny Saturday.

The rain has stopped at long last and mum took us for a walk. We haven't been out much because the weather has been so bad and it was great to get out in the grass again.

The grass has got long again. It should have been cut to make hay for the horses but you need dry sunny days for that.

All the walking and hiding in the grass made me thirsty so I had to stop at the horse trough for a drink of water.

Flynn didn't go looking for any mousies. He was to busy enjoying his bath in the sun.

Then I saw dad by the trailer so I went over for a cuddle. I hope the sun stays for a while.

Can we have our blog back now please?

Phew! At last mum has finished posting her photos. We are just glad we put our paw down and wouldn't let her post all of them.
These are all from their last stop which was Bergen in Norway and it rained. Mum said it always rains in Bergen. They wandered around the city and mum took photos here and there, and it wasn't until she looked back at them that she realised how many statues and sculptures are there. I'm not letting her talk today, she has had more than enough time on our blog.

Noms and more Norway.

Flynn: Nom nom nom. Oh hello, you just caught me in the middle of my mousie snax. I was going to show you the photos from Olden in Norway, but I have been told it is rude to talk with your mouth full so I better let mum do it.

Mum: Thanks Flynnie.

Our next stop was the town of Olden in the Nordfjord.
It is on the edge of the valley of Oldedalen with some very pretty walks.

In the centre of the town is the 'Old Church'. It was built in 1759 on the site of the original church which had been built in 1300.

I don't know who the people are in the painting as unfortunately
there was no English translation there.

The paintings and carvings are beautiful.

The pew doors and decorations were taken from the old original church.

We followed the river up through the valley......

...... and came to the new church which had been built in 1934 to help preserve the old church.

Olden Lake was very beautiful with the mountains and sky reflected in the still water.

In contrast the river is fast flowing and comes from the Jodestal ice field.

Back to Nordfjord and it was time to board the ship to head towards Bergen.

In the distance can be seen part of the Jostedal Icefield which is the biggest in Europe.

The water was so still disturbed only by the ripples from the ship.

Some time later parts of the icefield could still be seen. We only have one more port of call which will be Bergen.

Tummy Tuesday

I told mum she is taking up too much of our blog with her holiday photos and that I needed the blog all to myself today to show off my manly tummy. If she behaves herself I may let her post some more later.

An Award and Holiday Pics.

We got this award from TK and Squashies when we got out of purrison. We have had to keep on at mum to help us post it, but at least she has helped us now.

Here are the rules:

1. Thank the puppy, kitty or person who gave you the award. Thanks TK and Squashies!

2. Share 7 things about yourself.

3. Pass the award along to 15 bloggers who "you have recently discovered and you think are fantastic!"

Here are 7 things about us.

1. Flynn: Even though we are littermates and I eat more than Eric, his weight varies between 7 and 8lbs heavier than me.
2. Eric: I love dry food much more than Stinky Goodness but we don't get it any more to help me lose weight. We do still get occasional treats though.
3. Flynn: I like to be wherever my mum is. If she is indoors when I am in the garden, I have to keep checking on her.
4. Eric: When mum goes to bed I make biscuits on her head. She must like it because she says ooh and ahh a lot. When I have finished biscuit making, I lie on dad's pillow with my paw across his head.
5. Flynn: Mum tells me I'm a squawker but what she means is that I talk a lot.
6. Eric: I love to be groomed with the zoom groom and the furminator. If the Beans did it 100 times a day, it wouldn't be too often.
7. Both of us: When the Beans come home from their holidays and we get let out of purrison, they leave the purrison cell door open and after we have said hello to them, we go back in. We like it in there really but don't tell them that.

We should pass it on to 15 more bloggers now but we think most have had this award by now. If you haven't had it and want it, please take it for yourself.

Now it is time for more Norway photos. These are all taken in Geirangerfjord with the village of Geiranger at the base of the mountains. There is no need for descriptions, mum thinks the beautiful scenery speaks for itself.

Helping with the Holiday Photos.

Yup, we've let mum have the blog again today. I have been helping her post her photos but it is very tiring to make sure she doesn't post too many. Dad got very excited when they reached Norway because he met up with his long lost twin.

Dad and his twin.
Okay mum, it's over to you again.

After a day at sea we reached Norway and the very pretty town of Aalesund. We walked up the hill to the church which had lots of beautiful frescoes. This church was rebuilt after the fire that destroyed most of the town.

When we walked over the hill and down the other side, it brought us to the old harbour.

These old warehouses are amongst the few surviving buildings of the great fire of 1904. Being built of wood, most buildings were destroyed. The town centre was rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style.
Another view of the warehouses with the school on the skyline.

A view taken from the old harbour looking towards the rebuilt town.

All the buildings are post 1904 and built in the Art Nouveau style.

View of the town from the ship. The church is on the skyline on the left and the school in the centre.

We had a good send off by the tug boat.

Our last view of Aalesund as we headed towards Geiranger.
I have been asked several questions about the various photos and will try and answer them next week.
